Blizzard es una compañía que se dedica a crear sus juegos con bastante celo, tardando años en completerlos para finalmente entregar títulos de una calidad por encima de la media. Esta filosofía parece querer extenderse también al mundo del cine, partiendo de la base de que la película de World of Warcraft, que lleva ya tiempo anunciada con Sam Raimi (Spiderman) como director, avanza muy lentamente, estando en estos momentos en proceso de guión.
Rob Pardo, de Blizzard, dedicó unas palabras a MTV Multiplayer en las que especificaba que le gustaría ver una película de StarCraft, y añadiendo que si James Cameron se interesase, firmaría al instante: «Siempre hemos estado interesados en ver nuestras cosas en una película o en TV. Es sólo que es complicado encontrar socios apropiados. Probablemente podríamos haber hecho una película [de StarCraft] o algo en TV hace años, pero es realmente importante para nosotros encontrar a gente creativa y con talento, y además gente ilusionada con nuestras licencias. Este ha sido siempre nuestro desafío. Creo que si James Cameron viene a nosotros mañana y dice «¿quieres hacer una película de ‘StarCraft’?», firmaríamos.»
Pardo no especificó que sólo harían la película con James Cameron, pero queda claro que su ambición va más allá de un largometraje de usar y tirar, y que su universo aspira a algo de mayor presupuesto llevado a cabo por alguien con responsabiliaddes y talento contrastado.
Estaria mas que chido, pero con la agenda tan ocupada que tiene James Cameron, la neta no creo que se pueda realizar, pero, que otro director les gustaria para este proyecto?

Tras habernos contado historias de amor protagonizadas por juguetes, por robots e incluso por conceptos abstractos (el corto Day & Night), el estudio Pixar tuvo la intención de hacernos suspirar con el romance entre dos ranas. O entre dos renacuajos, más bien, porque así se traduce el título de Newt, la película que la compañía estuvo desarrollando hasta el pasado mes de mayo, cuando su producción fue cancelada. La película contaba como director con Gary Ridstrom, aclamado diseñador de efectos sonoros que, además, dirigió el corto Lifted, sobre un calamitoso alienígena sin talento para las abducciones.
Esta hitoria habría tenido por protagonistas a los dos últimos ejemplares de una rara (e imaginaria) especie: las ranas de pie azul. Por supuesto, dichos supervivientes serían un macho y una hembra, y (más obviamente aún) no se soportarían el uno al otro.
